Sriracha Burgers with Guac and Caramelized Onions

Sriracha Burgers with Guac and Caramelized Onions
Serves 3

These burgers are awesome! How can you go wrong with caramelized onions, guacamole, sriracha sauce, and beef?!?! Just a new twist on the good ole fashion burger. Enjoy!

2 tbsp butter
1 large onion, sliced thinly
1 small onion, diced finely
1 lb ground beef
2 tbsp Sriracha
2 tbsp coconut aminos
1 handful fresh cilantro leaves, chopped finely
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 to 1 cup guacamole (my all time favorite, if I don't feel like making my own, is Spicy Wholly Guacamole)

1. Preheat a grill, grill pan or cast iron frying pan over medium-high heat
2. Melt butter in a medium frying pan over medium-low. Add the sliced onions and cook for 18-20 minutes, until caramelized
3. While onions cook, combine the chopped onions, beef, sriracha, coconut aminos, cilantro and garlic. Use your hands to mix well and form into 3 equal-sized patties
4. Cook the burgers to desired doneness and serve a large scoop of guacamole and a few caramelized onions

  1. this looks delicious....I'm not super familiar with Sriracha, although I've heard of it. Where do you find it and what does it add to the burger? Any thing with that much guacamole has got to be good.

  2. hey kristen :) sriracha is a sauce that is used in a lot of asian/thai food dishes. its got a pretty good spicy kick so it adds an interesting flavor to the meat. i think a couple slices of bacon could only elevate this dish even more! enjoy!

  3. Oh man... This burger looks awesome! I don't know if I will be able to duplicate it... I just found your blog tonight off of a two-year old forum thread. It's great to see you are still blogging!

  4. Mmm! these were yummy and moist! I baked them in the oven on a rack, 350 for 20 minutes (they were thick)
